The Place to be

A warm and friendly welcome from Jens and his team awaits you at Kefalos Windsurfing and Sailing Centre. The centre has been at Kefalos Bay for more than 16 years – and still going strong!! The kit is North Sails and F2 Boards. We pride ourselves on the condition and variety of equipment on offer.

Kefalos bay is located at the south west end of kos. The offshore conditions ensure perfect flat water which is great for beginners, advanced windsurfers which want to crack the carve gybe and also for professionals like speed cracks and freestylers! Thermal effects cause a very high prbability of strong winds in the afternoon hours. Beginners will have perfect wind conditions in the morning.

Everything here is layed out to make life easier for you on your holiday. Beach bars and tavernas, accommodation and swimming pools, supermarkets, internet cafés, bike and car hire, exchange bureau’s and even a cash point are all just a stones throw away! The centre is open every day from 9.30am to 6pm – May to October. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and there is no pressure on you to do anything! If you want to windsurf, sunbathe, hang out at the hut, play volleyball, snorkel, sail, whatever – it’s your holiday and it’s all here if you want it!

Where are we?

See Map Kefalos Windsurfing and Sailing is located near the South East tip of Kos at Kefalos Bay – the windsurfers haven of the Island. Kamari Beach stretches for several kilometres along the Bay from Kaastri Island at one end to the small fishing harbour at the other. We are situated in the middle of the Bay with beautiful views to Kaastri Island and the volcanic island of Nissyros– the perfect spot for windsurfing and within easy reach of everything you need!

Sailing Area

The sailing area really is one of the best you will find. The large expanse of crystal clear warm water is uncrowded, with a huge reach end to end. Flat water - perfect long runs for blasting and gybing undisturbed. Just off Kaastri Island the beach shelves very gently creating the ideal spot to nail those deep beach starts to waterstarts. There is something for all level of windsurfer here – from those new to the sport right up to the more advanced freestylers and freeriders.

Wind

The wind in the Bay blows cross-off from the right. The day starts with light winds ensuring ideal flat water conditions for our beginners and light wind freestylers. As the wind increases throughout the day the intermediates and advanced get their fix while the beginners and non-windsurfers alike can kick back on the beach and watch the action. Rescues

Rescue is top priority in the Bay and the operations along the beach all help each other to ensure the impeccable safety record at Kefalos Bay. All of our Team, be they Instructors or Beach Assistants hold current RYA Powerboat and First Aid certificates. Rescue is only a wave away!!

Other Stuff

As well as the best kit on offer we also have Lazer 1 Dinghies, Lazer Picos and HobieCat 15's, which have proved to be very popular. Wetsuits, harnesses and boots can all be hired at the centre. We also have these for sale at excellent prices along with gloves, rash vests, t-shirts and other accessories. Of course, we still have the Tandem board for making and breaking of friendships (!) There is free use of snorkelling equipment for the explorers amongst you.
