Around & About (Stuff to see and do)
Kefalos and the Island of Kos has so much to offer windsurfers and non-windsurfers alike.
There is quite simply loads to do on the Island and getting around to it all couldn’t be easier.
Literally one road spans the island, and a drive from one end to the other takes approximately 1 hour.
There is a local bus service where you can hop on and off when you want, as well as ample car and moped hire.
The old village of Kefalos sits up on the hill overlooking the Bay and here you will see traditional Greek village life.
Stop and have a Greek coffee with the locals and admire the incredible view. Up here you will also find the Post
Office, Bank, Doctor, Dentist, Chemist, Bakers, Butchers and anything else you may need!
Beaches
Stunning beaches surround the Island and the more you explore the more you will find.
From totally deserted sandy stretches to rocky coastlines off the beaten track –
it’s all there to discover by moped, car, jeep, foot or mountain bike. It would
just take too long to list all the beaches – so you’ll have to find them for yourselves!!
Nightlife
Kefalos Bay has plently of Tavernas and Music/Video Bars, the majority of which
can be found towards the Harbour. Others are dotted around and about giving you the
choice of peace and tranquility – or a little bit more action if you are up to it! Further afield
the real party people should take a short ride into Kardamena for loads of night life, and
into Kos for a more International party atmosphere.
Boat & Island Trips
Boat trips and excursions around the Island and to surrounding Islands can be arranged close to the centre. Here is a selection to tempt you!
Nissyros – the famous volcanic island. Walk inside the giant crater with the hissing hot springs blowing out steam. Visit the Monastery and explore the beautiful town of Mandraki.
Fishing BBQ – Join our friend the Captain on his boat and catch fish the traditional Kefalonian way! Stop off at a deserted beach and feast on your catch. Swim and snorkel, or just relax and let your lunch go down!
3 Island Hop – A leisurely sail to 3 of our closest Islands – Pali, Yaili and San Antonias. Each has a story to tell and it’s own personality, history and atmosphere.
Rhodes – Just a hydrofoil ride away so why not pay it a visit during your stay? Steeped in history and majestic sights it is well worth a visit. Great shopping to be had too!!
Sunset in Zia – A spectacular sunset from the highest village in Kos. Stroll around the craft shops with their hand made ceramics, traditional sweets, herbs and spices in the beautiful mountain village.
Turkey – Visible from the Island and within easy reach so a day trip to Turkey is an absolute must for the shopaholics and bargain hunters amongst you!
Kos Town – so much to offer here from archeology to shopping to a fantastic new Harbour and much much more. There is an open air cinema and an abundance of bars, cafes, restaurants and yes, you guessed it…………more shopping!!! Just past Kos Town visit Thermal Springs – natures jaccuzzi and plunge pool!
